World Series Final Game Captures 51M Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extra-inning contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51M watchers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English program in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12M. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the total US viewership reached 16.1M. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million viewers, an 8% increase over the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance after 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
