From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
